Termite Inspections

Termite InspectionInspection for Wood Destroying Insects

Our main focus is to inspect houses for wood destroying insects and the conditions that permit infestation. Houses should be inspected at least once a year. A proper inspection must include the attic, basement, interior, exterior and crawl space area of a home, depending on construction. Even in best-case scenario, we are limited in our ability to completely inspect a home.

A careful inspection of all accessible areas will usually uncover serious conditions favorable to infestation or damage. Inaccessible areas, which cannot be inspected, must be noted to alert the homeowner to potential problem areas.

When evidence of damage is found, the insect must be correctly identified to properly assess treatment options and damage potential. A graph of the home should be made on each initial inspection to maintain records of any conditions from year to year, along with moisture readings (from a moisture meter) to test the structure to eliminate guesswork as to the moisture content of a variety of surfaces.

Wood destroying insects consist of subterranean termites, powder post beetles, wood boring beetles, dry wood termites, and wood decaying fungus. So as you can see, this service should be done by a trained professional.
